3 journalists shot as violence rocks Lagos APC rally

Three journalists were on Tuesday shot at a rally organised for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

 <p>The rally was held at Skypower field, Ikeja, Lagos.</p> <p>Among those that were hit by the bullet were the group political editor of Nation newspaper, Emmanuel Oladesu, News Telegraph correspondent, Temitope Ogunbanke and Ibile Television cameraman, Abiodun Yusuf.</p>     <p>A number of persons were also injured, robbed and beaten at the rally.</p> <p>Trouble started at about 1:30 pm when Lagos governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was delivering his speech.</p> <p>Suddenly, suspected rival groups of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) started shooting at each other.</p>     <p>Hoodlums took advantage of the occasion as they robbed people of their phones, money and bags.</p> <p>An NURTW official Musiliu Akinsanya also known as ‘Oluomo’ was beaten with sticks by thugs.</p> <p>Despite the stampede caused by hoodlums and security men, Ambode continued his address and handed the microphone to the party candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who delivered the vote of thanks.</p> <p>The campaign, which started by 12:30 pm had party bigwigs in attendance, excluding the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.</p> <p>Two people were reportedly killed as of the time of filing this report.</p> <p><strong>Subscribe to Daily Post. </strong>   <strong>Advertise with us.</strong>   <strong>Send us enquiries, press releases.</strong></p> <br />
